While watching people being bewildered by Sasquatch over a pack of beef jerky is hilarious, it doesn’t always prove that particular beef jerky is the best. And let’s face it, twelve to fourteen hours waiting on your dehydrator to finish gets old. So when you want amazing tasting jerky quick, what do you do? Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I give you… Savage Jerky!
The first thing you need to know about Savage Jerky’s Ghost Pepper Buffalo flavor is it is HOT! So if you search after the endorphin rush that extreme heat peppers offer, this jerky is your new best friend. On the other hand, if you like spicy food, but prefer it mild, steer clear of this particular flavor.
One of my favorite part of this product is that though it is an extreme heat snack, excellent favor is still present. The heat of the Bhut Jolokia (ghost pepper) is slow steady, you could eat through three strips of jerky before the full force of the heat can be detected. In the meantime you get the other spicy flavors. Hot sauce, Chipotle chili pepper, Habanero powder, and Cayenne pepper are all ingredients. Now this list looks very intimidating, but the flavor balance is spot on. Cider vinegar, brown sugar, sea salt, lime juice, molasses, and their own spice blend, are the other ingredients fighting against the purely blistering heat factor, and craft it into something hot that you can still enjoy. There is an abundance of ways to describe this jerky. Sweet, spicy, salty, pungent, tangy… gosh this is wonderful.
The look and feel of this jerky is on point. Dried to my jerky preference; the jerky doesn’t feel or look sticky. It really looks like old school smokehouse style jerky. But my favorite part of what I see here, is a truly full bag! No skimping by here, you definitely get your money’s worth.
Overall this capsicum filled food is as close to perfect as you can get, I have tried countless different brands of jerky, and very few of them are on the same high level as Savage Jerky. Excellent job!
